Mayor Dedecker digs the first shovel into the ground at 'MIST'
A brand-new residential neighborhood called “MIST” will soon be built in the Miami district of Middelkerke. What makes this project, comprising 46 energy-efficient homes, unique is that it will also include a 9,117-square-meter park with walking paths, lots of greenery, and water features. This morning, Mayor Jean-Marie Dedecker, together with Davy Demuynck, CEO of project developer ION, and Carl Lambrecht, CEO of project developer Fonders, symbolically broke ground. The first residents are expected to move in in the spring of 2027.
The new residential neighborhood will be located at the end of Salamanderlaan on a site covering more than 36,200 square meters. Preparatory work has already started on the site, and construction will be in full swing in the coming days and weeks. New roads will be built and a temporary access road will be created from Westendelaan to the site. This will protect the neighborhood from heavy construction traffic.
If everything goes smoothly, the actual construction of ‘MIST’ will start in early 2026. Specifically, project developers ION and Fonders will build 46 new homes. The residential neighborhood will consist of a mix of open, semi-open, and closed buildings, with three to five bedrooms and a total living area of between 120 and 220 square meters. These will be sustainable homes, each equipped with solar panels and heat pumps. What makes this project special is that the architects at A1AR architects & more have allocated a striking amount of space for greenery.
Ideal location - The location of ‘MIST’ is ideal for both permanent residents and second home owners.
Starting at €370,000
If everything goes according to plan, the first residents will move into the new residential neighborhood in April 2027. Sales of the homes have already begun. Prices start at €370,000, excluding costs.
