Fluvius opens new regional building in Bruges
On Monday 2 June, the official opening of the new Fluvius regional building at Kolvestraat 1A in Bruges took place. This marks the network company's departure from its site on Scheepsdalelaan, near the city centre, after 37 years.
In the presence of numerous guests, including Bruges mayor Dirk De fauw, CEO Frank Vanbrabant and regional manager Guido Vandenbruwaene proudly inaugurated the new office building in the Blauwe Toren industrial zone in Bruges. The base for Brugge-Middenkust, as the network operator calls this region in West Flanders, is set to become a model of sustainability. Thanks to its focus on renewable energy, energy efficiency and optimal water reuse, the building scores no less than 30% better than current EPB legislation. This new building is part of Fluvius' broader accommodation strategy, which aims to make all its offices sustainable in the long term.
Networks for tomorrow: 400 kilometres of network reinforcement in Bruges-Middenkust
The new buildings are intended to be a base from which to work on the networks of tomorrow in the region under ideal conditions. The energy transition is in full swing and Fluvius will also contribute to the success of this energy transition from this office and this region. Among other things, this means that the network operator will help to ensure that by 2030, up to 1.5 million electric cars, a large number of heat pumps and solar panels, and increasing consumption in industry will be possible in a smooth manner.
Specifically for the Bruges-Central Coast region, Fluvius will install around 30 distribution cabinets and modernise 140 others each year. In addition, the region will carry out network reinforcements over a length of approximately 400 kilometres each year. And this year alone, 12,000 energy-efficient LED fixtures will be installed for public lighting.
261 colleagues active in the region
The new workplace of the Bruges Fluviussers is easily accessible by public transport, bicycle and car. The regional office is less than 3 kilometres by bicycle or on foot from Bruges Sint-Pieters station. There are numerous bus connections less than 400 metres away. Cyclists can cycle to work via pleasant cycle paths, as the site is close to several junctions of the existing cycle network and the cycle highway. Those who come by car or motorbike have excellent connections to the E40 motorway and the centre of Bruges.
The new base in Bruges accommodates 261 employees.

Serving customers at the highest level
Fluvius wants to serve its customers even better. The new customer service office has therefore also moved to the new building. In this way, Fluvius wants to be close to its customers and help them with questions about meter readings, connections and prepaid electricity and natural gas.
