The 't Groen Hart site in Roeselare is expanding with 20 care units offering permanent care.

A new small-scale care residence for people with motor disabilities, some of whom have acquired brain injury (ABI), is being built on the site of 't Groen Hart in Roeselare. A total of 20 customised care studios are being built, each with the necessary facilities to meet the needs of the residents. There will also be spacious communal areas where residents can meet, participate in therapy or daytime activities, and enjoy meals together. The project aims to respond to a social need in Roeselare: the creation of a safe and accessible living environment with 24/7 nursing care and monitoring.

Site development

Work is in full swing on the redevelopment of the site of the former H. Hart Hospital, between Meensesteenweg and Westlaan. The demolition of the old hospital buildings has been completed, with the historic entrance being preserved and given a new purpose within 't Groen Hart. The first phase of the project comprises 60 private apartments, a residential care hotel with 110 studios and 27 assisted living apartments. In the immediate vicinity, near Rode-Kruisstraat, construction will soon begin on the new care residence, which will cover more than 2,300 m².

Common areas & daytime activities

Léonie Coussée
On the ground floor of the care residence, we provide not only rooms for physiotherapy, nursing care and follow-up, but also a day centre and living areas with a kitchen. It is a place where clients can meet each other, participate in daytime activities and eat together, if desired. The rooms are fully adapted for people with motor disabilities. On the upper floors, the studios are equipped to guarantee maximum autonomy and comfort. There is also a fully equipped pool house, where residents can enjoy a wellness experience in peace and quiet while bathing. The icing on the cake is a beautiful wheelchair-friendly roof terrace with a view of the green park.

With this initiative, we are responding to the high demand for accessible care studios in an inclusive environment. Our licensed care provider Pamele, known for caring for people with complex and severe care needs and a high need for permanent care, will be responsible for support and follow-up. It is not completely independent living, but living in a safe environment with continuous care. We want to give residents maximum autonomy, combined with proximity to support and social interaction.

Investment with social added value

Together with project developers Coussée Bouw & Project and ION, a financial model is being offered whereby investors can purchase the care studios with a 27-year rental guarantee.

The project is an example of a win-win situation: investors get security, while we offer an affordable solution for people who find it difficult to find suitable housing. The care residence offers a warm, safe and accessible environment that responds to the wishes and needs of the residents.

The laying of the foundation stone is planned for the end of 2026, and the first residents could move in at the end of 2028.
