't Groen Hart

From hospital site to green residential and care neighbourhood in Roeselare

The context

Why 't Groen Hart?

The former hospital site on Meensesteenweg in Roeselare offers a unique opportunity to create a green, vibrant and forward-looking urban neighbourhood. ION and Coussée are redeveloping this historic care site into a mixed-use project, featuring a diverse range of apartments, care facilities and commercial spaces centred around a spacious city park. The project is designed for a wide audience, from young families to seniors and people with care needs. The result is an inclusive community where every generation comes together and where you can quite literally be born and grow old without worry.

Our answer

How is the former hospital site being given a new purpose?

ION & Cousée are transforming the former hospital site into a green, vibrant city neighbourhood with apartments, extra-care housing, a care villa, a care hotel and commercial spaces. Set around almost 2 hectares of green space, the site becomes an inclusive environment where all generations come together. A green cycling and walking route, diverse architecture and the preservation of the historic entrance give the site a unique identity.
