De stad Eeklo legt één van de langste warmtenetten van Vlaanderen aan. Dat zal liefst 30 km leidingen omvatten die restwarmte uit de IVM-verbrandingsoven zullen transporteren. Zodra het warmtenet in werking treedt, zal deze nieuwe wijk daar als eerste op aansluiten. Alle 76 appartementen, het gezondheidscentrum, een handelszaak en 13 huizen worden tot dan gevoed door het lokale warmtenet vanuit een centrale stookplaats en een warmtepomp die is aangesloten op zonnepanelen.
