Official opening of student residence De Flint
High quality new build, designed especially for students and investors
Today the new student residence De Flint was officially opened by the mayor of Leuven, Louis Tobback, and Carl Devlies, the alderman for spatial planning. The building consists of 205 student rooms and bedsits and 66 underground parking spots and is centrally located, within walking distance of most university buildings and the city’s social hub.
The large-scale student project was implemented by project developers Immobel (Belgium’s largest listed real estate developer) and ION (renowned for the high architectural quality of its projects) within the projected time frame, perfectly coinciding with the start of the new academic year.
The complex is located at the corner of two streets, the Andreas Vesaliusstraat and Frederik Lintsstraat, taking its name from the latter. De Flint contains 205 student units (bedsits and rooms), a multipurpose room (with a TV corner, pool tables, table soccer and a lounge with a giant integrated screen and projector), an indoor gym, study room, 66 underground parking spots and a green outdoor space that includes a petanque course, benches, picnic tables, an outdoor gym and a volleyball court. The high quality design by Comodo Architects and the superior finishing are a big success, proven by the fact that all the units were sold even before the building was opened. Moreover, the project is in great demand with consumers, since all the units are already occupied.
The project’s total surface area is about 10,000 square metres, and the investment value was around 25 million euro. Construction began in March 2015 and was completed in August 2016.
